Ivan Beltrami
"Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest"
Ivan Beltrami is an amazing hero in the holocaust. He was born in 1920 in Marseilles, France and lived there for his whole life. He lived during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was an awful time period where an evil man named Adolf Hitler planned to kill all Danish-Jews. Ivan joined the resistance in 1942, and he hid jews in the hospital and his home. The resistance is a group of people working against all of the Nazis and Hitler's power to save the Jews. The resistance would never want to become a Nazi or side with a Nazi. Ivan also rescued many jews from deportion camps. Ivan Beltrami was the commander of an underground group who helped many jews travel to Sweden. He is also the cheif of the resistance teams. Ivan was commanded to kill members of the Gestapo. Ivan tried to warn the Jews/ on the train, but many of them didn't listen. He was able to save many Jews from a consentration camp near his home with the resistance team. Some of the many he saved were adults, children, and even infants. He was a very strong supporter of Isreal. He would never want a Jew to die and he believed that Hitler was a very bad person. Ivan Beltrami was a survivor and he never gave up, and he is remembered to this day as heroic and honerable.
These are some pictures of Ivan and the Resistance fighters. Without the resistance, so many more Jews could have been killed. Also, many Jews wouldn't be able to get across to Sweden. Sweden is a neutral country. This means that the Nazis do not have control over it. Therefore, they cannot kill any Jews in Sweden.
