He was a catholic priest of Namur, Belgium. He was a large asset to kids. He rescued Jewish kids and told them to believe in Jewish faith. He put kids in monastaries and nunneries. Gave his own bed to kids. Would sleep on the floor of his study. Brought food to hidden kids and parents and messages back and forth between parent and kid. Hid at end of war because Nazis were after him.Would take kids, up to 20 at a time and rush them to a household to a family he knew would take good care of them. Got food for Jews by begging from farm to farm. Chose to live poorly. He was a high school teacher before becoming the leader of the church. He always wore a black religious robe. He directed Jews to secure shelters. After liberation he brought Jewish kids all to Jewish community leaders. He died in his office in jail where he worked in 1973.
He was named Rightous Among Nations, the highest honor, and on 10/30/1968 a tree to his name was put in Yad Vashem.
