This is the actor who played Coward in his movie The Password Is Courage, and then there is the real Charles Joseph Coward.
Charles Coward, known as "The Count of Auschwitz," was a British soldier fighting against the holocaust. The holocaust took place in Germany while Adolph Hitler ruled to take out the Jewish population. While some stayed back and watched this terror, heroes like Coward faught back. Born in 1905 and dead in 1976, Coward helped the world overcome the Holocaust. Before Captured and transferred to a POW camp, he had certainly put a dent in the holocaust name. While he was a free soldier, he had helped in multiple ways. One major input he was famous for was this: he would buy real corpes from the people who took the the bodies out of the concentration camps, and replace living Jews inside the camp with the dead bodies so that they would take Their place. The guards wouldn't even know that they were gone, and Coward and others would drive them to Birkenau safely. Other ways he helped were small compared to this; such as bringing food and other things to them; and of course, just plain old breaking people out. He also was a spy, as he told the Swedish Red Cross Association about the concentration camps and how they were killing and mistreating the Jewish people. When he was liberated into London, he told them about what terror was going on in Germany. Coward was first British person honored as Righteous from Yad Vashem.
